Amy Hunt won the women's 100m at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, running 11.00 to claim her first senior international title in front of a home crowd. She was seventh at the 10m mark, fifth at the 50m mark, and first at the line — a trademark finish that has come to define her 2026 season. It was her first gold at any senior international championship after a string of silvers: Tokyo Worlds silver in the 200m last September, Commonwealth silver in the 100m in Glasgow two weeks ago.

Dina Asher-Smith finished fifth in 11.10 at the 100m final of the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham — matching the season's best she'd set in the semi-finals earlier the same day, but well outside the podium in an event she has dominated at continental championships for the last decade. Amy Hunt won the race in 11.00, capturing her first senior continental title in front of a home crowd. Ewa Swoboda took silver in 11.02. Delphine Nkansa completed the podium in a personal-best 11.06.

Amy Hunt is one of the world's best 200m runners heading into her Diamond League home meet, and Saturday's field at the Novuna London Athletics Meet is the most stacked she'll race outside of a global championship. Julien Alfred ran 21.51 in Monaco last week — the third-fastest 200m in history. Gabby Thomas has broken 21.90 in her last four races, most recently 21.83 in Budapest on Tuesday. Hunt, who took World Championship silver in the 200m in Tokyo last September behind Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, is racing at home against arguably the strongest women's 200m field of 2026.
