Brett & Joel record straight after their Tuesday morning Waverley track workout to bring you episode 89. Apologies for the accidental "episode 90" read-out, Joel got over excited. The episode kicks off with a summary of what's dropped on our "Friend Of The Show" Patreon-feed before Brett uncovers some secrets on the recording tactics of Spiked Up. Brett & Joel go over their weeks of training before Brett interviews Matt Seddon of The Sunday Plodcast & Chasing Paris UK fame. Brett & Matt talk about the upcoming second season of Chasing Paris UK as Marc Scott attempts to follow in his podcast partner's (Phil Sesemann) footsteps with an Olympic Qualifier in April's London Marathon.

Off the success of our last two marathon training series', we wanted to go even bigger for 2024. Chasing Paris returns for a special UK based series hosted by Matt Seddon, and featuring two of the UK's biggest names - Phil Sesemann (2:08:49 in Valencia 2023) and Marc Scott (12:57 5000m runner). This special first-date episode introduces our host and athletes and gives an overview of what led up to their current marathon builds, with Phil and Marc coming to us live from Kenya. Phil is agonisingly close to the Olympic Standard, while Marc will be going through his first marathon build here on FTK. Strap in, sports fans - Matt, Phil, and Marc are going to be with us until late April. If you got any closer to the action you'd have their sweat on you.

Marc Scott is the European record holder in the indoor 5000 meters (12:57), the British record holder for the road 5 km and has a World Indoor Championships Bronze medal. Marc also holds a Half Marathon personal best of 60:39. In 2023 Marc is turning his focus towards racing on the roads. Marc made the decision to leave his training group in the US (Bowerman Track Club) to start this next phase of his career back in the UK. Marc is still with his sponsors but is mostly selfcoaching through this transitionary period. At the time of recording Marc had just competed in the trials to represent Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships in Turin on December 11th. Marc finished 3rd and qualified for the team but had to drop out a few days before due to unfortunate and unforseen circumstances. Holly Archer signed with Under Amour in the fall of 2021 after a breakout year. She won Silver at the 2021 European Indoor Championships 1500m and now holds a 4:07 1500m personal best. Her story to becoming a pro runner is extremely unique and inspirational to those who keep training and chasing the dream after college. She spent several years running at the club level after graduating from Southern Methodist University while starting her career. In 2021, she bet on herself and came to the US for altitude training which led to some big personal bests and the Silver at the European Champs. We're betting on Holly as the next big UK talent. Aside from diving into her running, we banter plenty about US vs UK cultural norms, college partying, and her ex Marc Scott.
