Started in 2005, the New Albany Walking Classic® is Healthy New Albany’s signature fundraiser of the year. As North America's largest walking-only race, participants come from more than 177 zip codes nationwide. Because of the Walk, Healthy New Albany was created and has become a national model for community wellness. Since its inception, 100% of proceeds from the Walk have helped support Healthy New Albany’s programs and services.
Locally born and bred, Healthy New Albany is a non-profit organization that cultivates and inspires healthy living. We offer a variety of health-based community programs and events, and services including our farmers market, food pantry, community garden, and workplace wellness initiative. All of these offerings are funded by our generous donors and our main event: The New Albany Walking Classic®.
5k - For children 10 and under the registration fee is $10.00 no matter when they register which includes a bib, medal, and no garment (registrants ages 11+ will receive all items including the garment).
10k - Children 6 and older can register for the 10k distance. The registration fee is as listed at the time of registration; the child must be able to walk the entire distance. They will receive a bib, medal, and garment.
