Having tight hip flexors can do things like reduce glute activation, limit your range of motion, and alter biomechanics. It’s one of the most important stretches out there and it’s the one I try to do every day, even if I’m short on time.
It’s also a really easy stretch to get wrong. If you’re like me, you can make it look like you have a great range of motion by using your lower back. With a simple cue, you can get this stretch right and get the benefits from it.
Hold the stretch on each side for 30 seconds at a time. You can do this a few times on each side. It can also help to think about having a slight posterior pelvic tilt when doing the stretch.
You should feel a stretch and it might be slightly uncomfortable, but it should not be painful.
