Running More Does NOT Mean You Should Feel Bad

Running more miles or adding in speed work does not mean you should feel like crap.
Feeling bad means something needs to change. It could be your training, nutrition, sleep, or stress levels. If you look at those things and there’s nothing obvious, consider getting a blood test, talking to a doctor or dietician, or going over your training with a coach.
When you start building up your mileage or intensity, it’s okay to feel a little tired some days. A little tired means you may feel a small amount of muscle fatigue or it feels nice to sit for a little while. You shouldn’t feel like it’s impacting your ability to focus and get things done or make you unpleasant to be around. Make sure you’re not trying to mask being overly tired with lots of caffeine. You need to be able to hear what your body is telling you. For the most part, you should feel good, like the additional miles or intensity is making you stronger.
