On December 7, 2013 one of the top US ultrarunners and heavy favorite to win the North Face 50-Mile Championship, Sage Canaday, was forced out of the race due to a flu that hit him in the days leading up to the event. Despite the illness, Sage came out to root on his compadres at the Stinson Beach Aid Station (mile 27.7).
He was kind enough to chat with me for a few minutes to talk about his heart-wrenching decision to not toe the line and his upcoming plans for 2014.
