Based on the description and specs, this is not a shoe I would like. Diadora describes the Cellula 2 as a neutral shoe with comfort and stability. There’s an EVA carrier with a supercritical EVA drop in with a gel-like insert in the forefoot. I expected this shoe to be clunky and stiff. And to be honest, the first few miles were exactly that.

But then the shoe settled in somehow. And the combination of things that definitely should not have worked together was somehow starting to work. It was still a bit firm, but I was enjoying the run. The cushion didn’t feel squishy soft, but rather, I felt insulated and protected. The system as a whole is certainly more than the sum of its parts.
