HOKA Mafate 5 First Run: First thoughts on HOKA's new cushioned long hauler

The Run Testers went to St Gervais, near Chamonix, a town on the course of the UTMB, to get some first miles in with the HOKA Mafate 5 on some of the terrain it was designed to handle. This new dual-foam, half-TPU-plated Mafate is designed to deliver more cushion for long haul trailing. We’ve clocked some early miles on the trails with plenty of steep climbs, descents, some runnable stuff and road sections and here’s our first impressions of the new HOKA Mafate 5.
